Sonus faber Lumina V Floorstanding Speakers

The full-scale Lumina experience. Lumina V is the flagship floorstanding model in the standard Lumina range, combining a dedicated midrange, twin 165 mm woofers and Sonus faber’s DAD tweeter in a slim 3-way cabinet. It is built for listeners who want greater bass authority, dynamic headroom and room-filling scale without giving up the clean proportions and natural materials that define the Lumina family.

More Driver Area, More Authority

Lumina V is a 3-way vented design with a 29 mm DAD soft-dome tweeter, a 150 mm paper-cone midrange and two 165 mm woofers using a sandwich diaphragm structure. The larger woofers give the speaker deeper reach and more effortless low-frequency output than Lumina III, while the dedicated midrange keeps voices and instruments focused and expressive.

The Hybrid IFF-Paracross crossover operates at 260 Hz and 2,600 Hz. Frequency response extends to 38 Hz, sensitivity is 89 dB and nominal impedance is 4 ohms. Sonus faber recommends 50 to 300 watts of clean amplifier power.

A Lute-Shaped Chamber Inside a Square Cabinet

Although the exterior is deliberately simple, Lumina V uses a distinctly Sonus faber idea internally: the mid-high section is housed in a lute-shaped chamber. That internal form increases rigidity around the midrange enclosure and helps reduce standing waves, giving the midrange a cleaner acoustic environment without changing the minimalist exterior.

Placement Made Easier

The reflex port fires downward through the base of the cabinet, reducing sensitivity to the distance from the rear wall compared with many rear-ported floorstanders. Iron spikes provide mechanical decoupling, and two pairs of binding posts allow conventional wiring, bi-wiring or bi-amping.

Italian Materials, Understated Presence

The front baffle uses multilayer wood while the sides and top are hand-covered in black leather. Black, Wenge and Walnut finishes give Lumina V three distinct looks, but the cabinet remains visually restrained for a speaker capable of substantial output.

Lumina V is equally comfortable anchoring a serious 2-channel music system or serving as the front left and right speakers in a full Lumina theater system.
